PV Rural Electrification - Mali

An established electronics enterprise seeks to expand its urban-based PV business into the rural areas of Mali. It proposes to work with local financial institutions in offering the sale of PV household systems on credit in three unelectrified regions. Despite its established record the enterprise has not been able to raise sufficient capital to expand into this new high-risk market.

AREED is looking to provide initial working capital to launch the rural-based activities of this company. A business plan has been received and discussions are underway to link an AREED participation to bank co-financing.
