The supply chain begins with the purchase of gas from a supplier in Benin, Senegal, Ghana or Cote d’Ivoire. Sodigaz purchases on average 280 tons per month in three or four purchases. The gas is transported from the port to Bamako in one of Sodigaz’s six cistern trucks. Upon arrival in Bamako, the gas is transferred to the storage tank, which has a capacity of 200 tons. The empty bottles are then filled with gas and transported by truck to the 600 distributors. The same trucks collect these empty cylinders from the distributors and bring them back to Bamako to be filled. The end-user will either buy the bottle from the distributor or bring an empty one to the distributor in exchange for a new bottle.
